A walk from Presule to S. Caterina

You'll find rustic lifestyles and impressive historical and artistic monuments everywhere you look along the "Oachner Höfeweg" Trail of Farmsteads, which takes us from the foot of the Prösels/Presule (near Völs/Fiè) to St. Katharina (near Völser Aicha / Aica di Fiè) in just four to five hours. The trail passes through the southern extension of the Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi, and features an impressive variety of landscape types, rich flora and fauna, as well an interesting close-up look at the life and traditions of the inhabitants of this region.

This somewhat challenging route consists for the most part of sunny segments winding their way through various different forest landscapes (comprised of deciduous trees and conifers), across meadows, and through wetlands. You'll pass by apple trees, berry farms, and vineyards. The trail has an elevation of approx. 700 to 900 meters above sea-level, and extends to the west and south and affords not only scenic views of natural beauty, but also old farmsteads, hayricks, gardens and dry masonry testifying to the deep historical roots of this region. At the same time, you'll view well-preserved chapels, wayside memorial crosses, and small religious shrines reflecting the profound spirituality of the people of this region.
