For the third time this year, the citizens of Castelrotto are disclosing the secret of their Christmas traditions and allowing other people to take part. In one of South Tyrol's most beautiful and historical town centres, the farmers and tradesmen are looking out what they have in their stores that they can offer for sale. In addition to the small, but sweet Christmas market, the farmers' wives, as well as the innkeepers of Castelrotto, show their cards, or better, what they have in their pots. The cuisine of Castelrotto's farmers offers the best of South Tyrol's cuisine and hardly leaves anything to be desired, for example, steaming mulled wine, biscuits, Christmas Stollen (sweet bread made with dried fruit often with marzipan in the centre), Zelten (a local Christmas cake made of figs, pine seeds and candied fruit), or Castelrotto's own Krapfen, a kind of doughnut.
